Fergus Murphy
Fergus is our main character in the production, Phil Nash. Fergus has black short curly hair and a pointy face. He is 16 years old and the costumes worn by him in the production were provided by him. Fergus is a friend of mine who lives locally so it was simple to get him involved in the production as he didn't have to go through too much of an effort to be available. It is very easy to instruct Fergus on how I want him to perform as he previously studied Media for GCSE and knows the whole production process of the films and the deadlines that have to be met.

Dane Hammond
Dane is 15 years old and is my brother. As his role in the film is fairly short and you don't have to see a lot of his face his age didn't really matter. Dane studies GCSE drama so the problem of acting didn't matter although his role was fairly simple. The jacket worn by Dane was also Fergus's which I suggested as I thought it was a very conventional Film Noir piece of clothing. Again, it was very easy to get Dane involved in the production because of his fairly short role being filmed in our house.

Main Task - Props and Costumes

For my Main Task I will be looking to follow conventions of the Film Noir genre. This will include props and costumes. One of the main things that will give my production a more traditonal 1930's feel to it will be the costumes that people wear. You will see characters wearing in Film Noir films are wearing long trench like coats, hats, smart leathers shoes, smart shirts and trousers.

The picture here shows a strong use of the coventional Film Noir costume used. Although this photo is modern we are able to see the similarities described above. We can also notice the strong use of light and shadows here. Something else that is very unique to this photo and also very conventional in Film Noir is the cigarette. This and many other props are used in Film Noir films which are usually associated to detective stories.



Again, the above pohotos show the typical props used in Film Noir films. I am trying to use a gun in my production to show that there is a murder that will take place. I also plan to use cigarettes although this is something that will take commitment from the actors I use due to either of them smoking.

Main Task - Diary Entry

I have now acquired my actors for my production. My main character, Phil Nash, will be played by Fergus Murphy. Mystery Man (Tony Caprano) will be played by Dane Hammond. We will be filming tonight, Tuesday 28th February 2012, and tomorrow night, Wednesday 29th February 2012. We will have to wait until 5:30 to start filming due to daylight still being present tonight until then. Nearly of the tasks for pre production has been completed apart from a few smaller tasks and are ready to uploaded to my blog once finalised.
